Dew Tour Street Style: Highlights

Pretty high kickflip at the first spot of the whole course.

If there's any word to describe the whole competition, this word would definitely be "garnly". So long and so far, the Dew Tour real street competition, held at the Keegan Sauder's backyard at San Francisco, has been the most strict and fastest street course. The lap starts with small and almost broken kicker, but taking into account the high speed of the park, the riders were popped up into the air, and fastly launched to the hard pavement.

David Gravette grinding a big five-o at the truck gap

Another awesome spot at the couse was the big rail section. Although some riders skiped the section, the most braves ones, such as Gravette and Schekler, shredded the rail whit tigh tricks, including David's five-o and Sheck's back lipslide. It's important to highlight the speed that skaters got while ridding, based on the fact that the whole park was located at a downhill concrete street.

If you want to check at whole street course, check out the video with the highlights of the competition at San Francisco.

Nyjah Huston: Dew Tour Winner

Huston, Pudwill and Rodriguez at the podium

After a rough battle between the four most profitalbe riders these days, Nyjah did ti again, and took back home the jackpot and the respect for all the crew at the San Francsico course. The decision was difficult, but  the judge finnaly decided to give Huston the big prize. The second place was for the charismatic DVS rider Torey Pudwill, which with tight and pretty technical tricks impressed the crew and the local judges. The third place was given to P.Rod, who dominated the course with perfectly landed switch and nollie tricks.

To end up the show, the organization prepared a show with Nyjah's personal friend Lil' wayne, who after winning millions thanks to the rap music bussines now is really comitted to the skateboarding scene and progress. According to Huston, current Dew Tour Toyota City champeon, “It’s great to have Lil Wayne out there supporting skateboarding”. Also, it's important to highlight the participation of Latin American pro riders, sucha as Milton Martinez (Argentina) and Felipe Gustavo (Brazil) who won the fourth and fifth place respectively.

Torey Pudwill: Back on the Business

After being out for a while, Torey decided to rejoin the legendary company for a three-years endorsement, deal that support the brand on these more than competitive times. In economic terms, this commitment provides the chance to dealers, retailers and even teammate athletes to get better incomes, having in mind that Pudwill is know a worldwide famous figure. T-Pudds, recognized for several skate magazines as the skater of the year, is now back on his former shoes company, the one that sponsored him for more that 10 years. Torey is pure energy, and maybe one of the most charismatic skaters out there. This fact that was definitely proved through the development of this year's Street leage, where not only competed as rider but also as a host, interviewing and jocking with the pros.

More than a profitable deal, as the very same Pudwill announced, this is more like a back to the roots and way to stabilize the company as well as his own carrer. According to Torey “I’m happy to be a part of a company I grew up skating for. It’s my roots, and now I’m motivated and dedicated to skate harder than ever !” In relation to that, there's only one we thing to ask about, it is possible to skate harder than he is doing now? It seems that the miracle boy of skateboarding is decided to take it to the limits once again.

The list his recent accomplishments  includes: 1st Place Tampa Pro 2012, Street Skater of the Year, TransWorld Skateboarding 2011, 1st Place – Tampa Pro, Best Trick – 2011, 3rd Place – Tampa Pro – 2011, 5th Place – Street League, Seattle – 2011. As we can already see, Torey is an active skater that still has a lot do in the business and at the sport progession as well. Go Pudds!

Check out one his best deliveries at the worlwide famous "The Berrics" Battle Commander.

Good bye to a legend: Tom Sims (1950-2012)

We got very sad news. Tom Sims died the past Monday, Sept 12th, from a heart attack.  Sims won the Snowboard World Champion (1983) and the Skateboard Champ as well (1975). Moreover, he founded two companies focused on these two diciplines, which ones are Sims Snowboard and Sims Skateboard.

Tom has done a lot for the boarding sports and scene, such as improvements on deck's desings and the very  first halfpipe and freestyle boards. He also produced, as we have said, skate and longboards, which some of these were used even by the world famous skater Tony Hawk.

From Ridetime we  tribute this legend and give our condolences to the family.

RIP Tom Sims (1950-2012)

Skater of the Day: Bastien Salabanzi

The nowadays very popular and loved European skateboarder, Bastien Salabanzi, is being covered by RideTime!

For those who doesn't know, Bastien has been ripping it since 1999, having performed parts on different skate videos, through a variety of sponsors and labels. Going back to the past, in fact ten years ago, a pretty young Salabanzi was killing it along the Flip's crew, job that ended up with this living clasic. Skate Spots: The DC Embassy

After creating the biggest skateramp under the supervision of the living leyend Danny Way, and constructing the first and largest Skate Plaza, the DC Shoes company did it again, and provided to the European riders one of the cleanest skate training facilities, The DC Embassy. This"Embassy" is located on Barcelona, and it has been visited by riders from all over the globe. Bacerlona is considered as the "Meca" of the sport, so for that reason, the international shoes company decided to invade the country and settle down for once on the old continent. The outcomes of this facility can be already seen, in fact some of the finalist of the nowadays popular Street League were strictly trained on this park.

Bastien Salabanzi, one of the biggest European skateboarders out there, is part of the selection of riders that represents the brand on Barcelona and at rest of the continent as well. Salabanzi trains at the Embassy as much as he could, and the results are visible to all the skateboarding community. This fact let us think in one aspect that may be affecting skaters from the rest of the world, especially ones who belong to poorer regions. The question is, does these kind of facilities, such as the "DC Embassy", improves directly the level of pro skaters? The answer is definitely yes. For this reason, "embassies" must be constructed in different parts of the world, making the progression of the sport a little bit more fair and democratic.

These are the facilities, the dream of any skater, the pleasure of just a little group, am I right?

Check out the latest video of the Embassy, with their special guests, the Razis brothers, Enjoy!

Pic of the Day: Grant Taylor

As the skateboarding oldschool legend, John Cardiel said about Taylor, " He can go a little bit higher, a little more technical, everything just a little bit more". Here it is the proof of Cardiel's words. Massive ollie over the hip.

Taylor, the American 21 years old AWS team rider, is recognized for being a really sick and limitless skateboarder. Grant represents the progression that a new generation of skaters are giving to the dicipline. Massive drops, pretty high wallrides and ditch drop-ins demonstrate how this young-blood rider respect the old style but taking it to a brand new level.

Skateboarding Memes!

I found these ones on the net. I don't like memes, but these ones really made laugh. Let's check of they work on you guys.

Pic of the Day: Skating on the Roof

Hi there Ridetimers, for today we have prepared a compilation of a serie of black&white pictures that represents how high can skateboarders take a ride. Skateboarding on concrete seems not to be enough for these riders, for that reason they decide to take it to the next level, which is "roof skating". From clasical American churches to the most innovative and post-modernist  architectural structures, skating has been taken to levels that haven't seen before. Enjoy!

Riding over a church seems to be fun for this rider, as you can see ramps can be found at the weirdest places.

Natural quater pipe? Yes, indeed the architect was probably thinking on it

A skatepark on a roof, rough ride though.

Pics: Worst Skate Spots Ever

Throughout all my personal experience as an skateboarder, I have seen lots of horrible skateboarding spots. Anyway, the ones that you are about to presence go beyond the limits, getting into useless boxes that look incredible bad, and don't work at all. Though these ramps don't provide their function propperly, they have won a space on RideTime! as the worst skateboarding spots ever. Take a look and make your own opinion.

quite perfect for boardslides? come on guys, what is this? looks like a funbox ramp stair set. Weird.

A masterpiece of skateboarding engineering, designed for anti-gravitational routines
Prepared for a bail? No way dude, this is the best transfer I've ever seen!
No words, anyway it is quite rideable.

Record Guinnes: World's Longest Skateboard

WHO: Moshe Arazi / Aaron Lyon / David Micley
WHAT: 9.17 m (30 ft 1 in)
WHERE: Newton, Massachusetts, USA
WHEN: 2005

It seems that these guys were a little bit bored, anyway, they won a record Guinness and became known all around the world. This board is called the "Foundation board" and for some strange reason, it hasn't been recognized in the official Guinness' website.

Skate and Girls: The Best Female Skaters

Sometimes people think that girls are only atractive by the outside, but I have to clarify that they are all wrong. There are lots of pro skatergirls out there, that this post won't be enough to show them all. For that reason, I prepared a little comp with the videos of the best women skateboarders of the world, from some old-school sucha as Elissa Steamer, to Leticia Bufoni, the current X Games Street Skateboarding gold medalist. After checking the pics you will realize how tough this girls can be, which ones sometimes can be way more motivated that even some male pro riders.
